Rare UV Sea Glass Necklace
Rare UV Sea Glass Necklace
Rare UV sea glass necklace with a sterling silver sea turtle on an 18 inch sterling silver chain. UV glass, also called ultraviolet and vaseline glass, glows under black light. Trace amounts of uranium were used as a colorant in the making of the glass. According to an article in the January 2018 issue Beachcombing Magazine, “it was mainly produced… around 1840 up until World War II”. It is a very rare find on my beach in Cape May.
Sea glass is approximately 1 5/8 inch in length. This piece of sea glass was found on December 27, 2024.
Each piece of sea glass is unique and hand picked from the beach on my daily walks. It is never machine tumbled or shaped. You will receive the exact piece of jewelry in the photograph. Slight imperfections in the glass are to be expected and are proof that it is pure sea glass. Stone, shell and coral props are not included. The shapes of pure sea glass are formed at random by the breaking of glass and the strength of the sea as each piece is tumbled in the waves and sand. This randomness makes each piece of my jewelry truly unique and one of a kind.
